A Wyoming County employee is accused of stealing more than $80,000 from the local Department of Motor Vehicles.
Roxanne Ingles, 59, of Brooklyn Street, Warsaw, was the Deputy County Clerk (DMV). She resigned from her position Tuesday.
Ingles was arrested and charged with felony counts of grand larceny, tampering with public records and offering a false instrument for filing.
The Wyoming County District Attorney’s Office says the investigation began a week ago when the county clerk’s office contacted the sheriff’s office about a discrepancy in the county clerk’s motor vehicle account.
She allegedly stole the funds over a one-year period ending this month.
Following arraignment, Ingles was jailed on $5,000 bail.
Sheriff Gregory Rudolph says further charges are possible as the investigation continues and a comprehensive audit is completed.
