A week after she announced she was dropping out of the 62nd District state senate race, Gia Arnold is back in.
The 24-year-old Holley woman admitted to an extramarital affair in an official Facebook posting. She said at the time she was “hurt, upset, angry and thinking more of my current situation, rather than the big picture.” In the original facebook post she called the affair an “escape from an already declining marriage.”
In a statement today she said she received an overwhelming outpouring of support through texts, calls and emails which “called for me to stay in in this race and fight what truth, honesty and what is right for our senate district.”
The 62nd District seat was left open after 19-year incumbent George Maziarz announced he was not seeking reelection and retiring. It includes Niagara and Orleans Counties.
She’s facing Republican Rob Ortt in an upcoming Republican primary.
