Thousands of homes across Erie, Genesee, Orleans and Niagara counties were without power on Christmas morning.
The strong gusts of wind hit around 60-miles an hour Wednesday night, with downed trees and power lines.
The power has been restored.
Some large tree branches came down in Genesee County but we have received no reports of major damage.
Jeffrey Deats is no longer under police guard at ECMC.
Deats has been declared brain dead following a suicide attempt and legally has been released on his own recognizance.
That ruling relieves Genesee County from the obligation of guarding Deats 24/7.
Deats is charged with manslaughter in the death of 6 month old Chandler Zuch earlier this month.
Deats attempted to hang himself in his Genesee County jail cell last weekend.
A Bethany man has been arrested for alleged child abuse that dates back to last summer.
State Police have arrested 24 year old Anthony P. Dibble of Bethany Center Road and charged him with felony counts of assaulting a child.
Authorities say Dibble caused serious brain injuries to his 3-year old daughter last August.Details of the alleged assault were not released.
The child was hospitalized but has since returned home.
Dibble was arraigned in Bethany Town Court and ordered held in county jail without bail.
The wake for murdered New York City Police Officer Rafael Ramos is expected to draw thousands today. His family paid a Christmas night visit to a Brooklyn street memorial placing blue roses on the spot where Ramos and Officer Wenjian Liu were gunned down last Saturday.
