Good Samaritans are being credited with preventing serious injuries and possibly saving the life of an Albion man involved in a late night accident in Stafford.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Deputies say 57-year-old Jeffrey Mooney of Quaker Hill Road, Albion, was northbound on Fotch Road in his 1999 Ford Taurus just before midnight.
Mooney ran off the highway, struck a utility pole and the car burst into flame.
Mooney managed to crawl out of his vehicle but was still dangerously close to the burning car when passersby came to his aid and dragged him further away from the flames.
Mercy Flight took Mooney to Strong Memorial for treatment of minor injuries.
Mooney has been charged with Drunk Driving and additional charges are pending but deputies say Mooney should be grateful to the unidentified person who helped him out.
