Five young men in Orleans County are facing charges after allegedly disrupting and shooting at a mosque in the Town of Carlton.
The disturbances started last Friday night. Sheriff’s Deputies say the group drove back and forth in front of the World Sufi Foundation Mosque. They were allegedly honking horns and shouting obscenities at the worshippers.
One of them, 17-year-old Mark Vendetti, is believed to have fired a shotgun at the mosque.
Then just last night, the group did it again. No shots were fired this time, but deputies were called to the scene. All 5 were arrested.
Now charged with Disrupting a Religious Service are 18-year-olds Dylan Phillips, Jeff Donahue and Anthony Ogden, and 17-year-olds Tim Weader and Vendetti. All are from Holley and are due in court next week to answer the misdemeanor.
Vendetti is also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He’s been locked up on $10,000 bail.
