The fire damage tab has been estimated at $20,000 to an apartment on East Main Street in Batavia.
City firemen answered the call just before midnight last night at 318 East Main.
Fire fighters found flames in the kitchen of a second floor rear apartment. Those flames had begun to creep up an interior wall.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Those Orleans County teenagers accused of disrupting services at a mosque could face additional charges. The Orleans County DA is considering charges of aggravated harassment and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. Investigators say the four teens from Holley allegedly fired a shotgun outside a Mosque in Carlton.
Authorities say one of the worshippers was allegedly hit by one of the teenagers’ cars.
The two 18 year olds and two 17 year-olds currently face misdemeanor counts of disrupting a religious service.
Construction begins today on Route 63, Ellicott Street, through Batavia.
The work zone extends for 1.7 miles from Main Street east to Cedar Street.
Ellicott Street will be milled and resurfaced and new lines will be painted reducing the number of lanes from four to 3.
The DOT says this will increase on-street parking and create a bicycle lane.
The project should be completed by November.
31-year-old Alexander Agapii of Penfield: He has been charged with a misdemeanor count of sexual abuse.
Deputies say Agapii allegedly touched a 14-year-old girl on a water ride at Darien Lake.
State Police continue investigating a fatal crash on the Thruway in Western New York. Authorities say one person was killed when the driver of a van carrying nine people lost control between exits 59 and 60 in Dunkirk at about 5 p.m. Monday afternoon. Investigators say the van left the road and struck a tree. Police say five adults and four children were in the van at the time. The names of those involved have not yet been released.
