A car stuck a pole on Broadway Road between Harlowe Road and County Line Road in the Town of Darien this morning around 6:30AM. According to reports, the pole was snapped and power lines down. National Grid is reporting that 79 customers in the area are without power. There were no reports of injuries.
The City of Batavia ended the fiscal year 2009 to 2010 in the black.
A preview of the third-party audit on the city’s financial condition was released Friday. According to the report, the city operated with a surplus of over 475-thousand dollars. That’s the 4th year in a row that the City of Batavia has shown a surplus on its bank account.
Batavia’s Freed, Maxick and Battaglia firm performed the audit. The firm credits a more fiscally conservative budgeting process and an efficient municipal water system among the reasons why the city has remained solvent.City Council is scheduled to look over the entire audit at the Council Meeting, Monday night. That meeting is set for 7pm.Also on the agenda is the modification of City Manager Jason Molino’s employment contract. The new provision would raise the level of deferred compensation Molino receives in lieu of a pay raise this year.
A Wyoming County man has been arrested for possession of a sawed off shotgun. 58-year-old Dennis Cashin of Vernal Road in the Town of Middlebury has been charged with Criminal Possession of a weapon. The weapon was discovered this morning when Wyoming County Sheriff’s went to check on Cashin’s well being. The modified 12-guage automatic shotgun was in plain view inside Cashin’s home. The barrel of the shotgun was cut to less than 12 inches. New York State regulations state the length must be at least 18 inches.
Genesee County Democrats will be hosting a “Farm to Table” Picnic tomorrow. The Picnic will celebrate locally produced foods and wines. It will be held at Woody Acres. The guest of honor will be Rochester Mayor and Lieutenant Governor Candidate Bob Duffy. That’s tomorrow at Woody Acres. The time was not given.
