UPDATE (9:00pm) A Batavia woman seriously injured in an accident this morning on Rt. 98 (Oak St.) has died. Authorities confirmed tonight that Jacquelyn Dawson, 65 of 5175 Sunset Terrace died at Strong memorial Hospital in Rochester. She had been flown there by Mercy Flight following the accident around 9:15am. Authorities said Dawson failed to stop for a stop sign on Union St. and pulled out into Rt. 98 (Oak St.) Batavia Police continue to investigate.
UPDATE (3:21pm) The victims in this morning's crash have been identified by Batavia PD. The driver of the sedan, who was Mercy Flighted, was Jaquelyn Dawson of Sunset Terrace, Batavia. The driver of the pick-up truck was Kelly Creegan of South Main Street, in Elba.
UPDATE (11:28am) Batavia Police Chief Randy Baker said the drivers of the two vehicles involved were injured. The driver of the sedan was taken via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial in Rochester. The driver of the pick-up truck was taken to UMMC. No names are available.
UPDATE (11:01am) Traffic on Route 98 has now re-opened
A two-car accident around 9:15 this morning has blocked traffic on Rt. 98, Oak St. between Richmond Ave. and Veterans's Memorial Parkway in Batavia.
Two people were taken to the hospital. The occupant of the sedan was the most seriously injured, according to Batavia Police.
Further details have not been released.
