United Memorial Medical Center has announced they are currently short on seasonal flu vaccines.
A labeling issue with the manufacturer has led to the shortage. The hospital expects to have the rest of the vaccine shipped in late October. For now, the current shipment will be limited to only patients who are deemed “high-risk” for catching the flu.
-Children aged 6-59 months
-Individuals 50 years or older who suffer from certain chronic conditions
-Individuals who are immuno-suppressed
-Women who are or will be pregnant during flu season
-American Indians & Alaska Natives
-Individuals who are morbidly obese (BMI > 40)
-Caregivers for children under 5 and adults over 50
UMMC will conduct vaccination clinics on September 28th from 9:00am-5:00pm and September 29th from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Patients should call 344-4800 to schedule an appointment.
Tountas Family Care in LeRoy will schedule patients on September 30th from 10:00am-6:00pm. Appointment may be made by phoning 768-6530.
Patients at Byron Family Care may call 548-7155 to schedule an appointment for their clinic on October 1st between 8:00am-12:00pm.
