There will be baseball in Batavia in 2011 and it will be Batavia Muckdog Baseball. The Rochester Red wings announced this morning that they will to continue to operate the team for another year. Naomi Silver, President and CEO of Rochester Community Baseball says her group is pleased to be able to continue to help Batavia in maintaining the operation of the Muckdogs. She says the Wings don’t want to walk away from the operation, leaving the team at risk of not being able to support itself financially while awaiting a sale.
The Muckdogs have been for sale for the past several months. To date there have been several inquires and conversations with potential buyers are on going. Genesee County Baseball Club President Brian Paris is still hoping that a local sale will occur.
Once again there will be at least one more year of Batavia Muckdogs baseball as the Rochester Red Wings have announced their will continue their affiliation for another year.
