31 year old Taheed Moffett appeared for sentencing in Genesee County Court this morning for felony criminal mischief as a second felony offender.
The Class E Felony could have resulted in up to 4 years behind bars which is what district attorney Lawrence Friedman was recommending.
Moffett's attorney Frederick Rarick interrupted Friedman immediately as the proceedings were about to start to request a possible adjournment of the sentencing due to the litany of other charges in various municipalities that Moffett is facing.
Rarick was looking to find a "Global resolution" for all of the charges including the pending cases in various courts. Judge Charles Zambito denied the request on the grounds that it would not effect his sentencing in this case.
Moffett spoke before being sentenced where he said he is "accepting responsibility for his actions." but went on to say, "I was stabbed in the face that night and I went for the door rather that for the (person)."
Judge Zambito sentenced Moffett to 1 1/2 to 3 years in prison and issued him two orders of protection.
