DePaul’s Batavia Square proposal calls for the construction of an 80 unit complex for residential housing on the east side of the city.

The development hinges on the rezoning of three properties in the area to coincide with an existing apartment complex and the project proposed b DePaul.

The request to rezone was approved for county review by a slim margin of 5 to 4.

Opponents to the development, Councilmembers Al McGinnis and Bob Bialkowski, contended that there is already adequate housing in the city and it would be a mistake to add more now.

DePaul is expecting to have a site plan ready to present to the city by the spring.
