A Winter Storm Warning is now in effect
A State of Emergency has been issued for all of New York State.
Schools have closed in Genesee County as we wait for a foot or more of snow accumulation by Wednesday and poor driving conditions due to blowing snow.
Batavia City Schools and all other public and parochial schools in Genesee County are closed.

New York is in a state of emergency for extreme winter weather.  Late last night Governor Cuomo declared the state of emergency with all 62 New York counties to be affected by this nor'easter.  All non essential state employees are directed to stay home as blizzard conditions may persist until tomorrow. 

Most flights are cancelled this morning out of Buffalo International and Rochester airports – best to check with your individual airline.

Batavia City Council has, as expected, approved next year’s city budget.
The vote was 8 to 1 with perennial budget nay-sayer Rose Mary Christian casting the only no vote.
A 2.75 percent pay raise for non-union city employees was approved 7 to 2. Christian and council member Paul Viele voting no.
Two new police officers were sworn in. They are Ryan Shea and Mathew Dispenza.

A Batavia teenager accepts a plea deal in a child pornography and sexual abuse case.
18 year old Davon St. John of Oak Street will get six months in jail and five years’ probation.
St. John pled guilty to sexual misconduct and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child.

17 year old Shawn Rushok formerly of LeRoy was denied youthful offender status on two charges of Sexual Abuse.
Rushok plead guilty to sexually assaulting two children under the age of 11.
He was sentenced to six months behind bars and 10 years’ probation.
Rushok must also register as a Sex Offender.

Sheriff’s deputies are looking for the driver who apparently crashed into the brand new doors of the Pavilion High Annex.
Investigators estimate the damage at $3,000.
They say they have solid leads and expect an arrest within days.
