A LeRoy man is facing charges that he lured a child acquaintance into making sexual videos.
21-year-old Stephen Smith of Elm Street in LeRoy is facing three Felony charges following his arrest on Tuesday. LeRoy Police Detective John Condidorio says Smith faces two charges for downloading and sharing internet videos of persons under 16 engaging in sexual activity.
"But along with that, he was also making some of his own movies," Condidorio alleges. The detective says the subject in those movies was "an acquaintance" of Smith's, who lives in LeRoy. The victim is under 17 years of age.
"We do not believe (those movies) were posted on the internet," Condidorio tells WBTA.
Smith's activity was first reported back in March by the State Police Computer Crimes Unit. A 9-month joint investigation led to the arrest.
Smith was arraigned on Tuesday by LeRoy Justice Kermit Arrington. He was released under the supervision of Genesee Justice.
