The Genesee County Economic Development Center denies it acted illegally or improperly when it awarded $350,000 in employee bonuses over the past five years.
The county EDC was harshly criticized by a state watchdog agency for the methods used in awarding the bonuses.
The EDC immediately went on the defensive.
It’s board vice president issued a statement expressing no apologies and no regrets for the board’s actions.
Genesee County Manager Jay Gsell, in his weekly WBTA Radio appearance, defended the agency.
Late yesterday, the EDC Albany based law firm issued a 2 and a half page rebuttal to the critical state report. The lawyers maintain that the EDC did nothing wrong and the process for awarding bonuses is completely, transparent.
