It’s going to be cold in the Genesee Country for the next couple of days.  We are expecting a high today of 15 degrees, 9 degrees on Sunday, and 13 degrees on Monday.  The low forecast for Sunday night is a minus 6 degrees.  Snow showers are on tap for today with an accumulation of 1 to two inches possible.

The Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force made three arrests in the past week.  On Friday,  January 14th, 21-year-old Jeffery Peyman of Ellicott Street in Batavia was arrested after a traffic stop for  allegedly possessing a 12-gauge shotgun that had a defaced serial number.  He’s been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon.  Peymen is in jail with bail set at 5 thousand dollars. On Thursday, 31-year-old Lucien Marks of South Lake Road in Byron was charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Marks was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at his home.  Cocaine, Marijuana, pills, and 924 dollars in cash were found during the search.  Marks is in jail with bail set at 25 thousand dollars.

And yesterday 28-year-old Lendle Tucker of Spencer Court in Batavia was charged with 42 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and one count of unlawful Possession of Marijuana. He was arrested following the execution of a search warrant at this home.  A quantity of forged US Currency in various dominations was seized along with a computer, printers, and marijuana.  The face value of the forged currency is 940 dollars. Tucker is in jail with no bail set.

Batavia City Council will be meeting in a conference session this Monday and will also be holding a special business meeting.  The sessions start at 7PM in the Batavia City Centre’s Council Board Room.  The public may speak at the meeting by signing in with the City Clerk prior to the start of the meeting. At the special meeting a resolution will be introduced to establish new water rates, meter fees and capital improvement fees. 

The Batavia City School District Board of Education will also be meeting on Monday night.  Their meeting starts at 7PM at the Administration Building Conference Room on Washington Avenue.  The public is welcome to attend.
