Voters approve school budgets in all eight Genesee County Districts.

In Batavia City Schools the budget passed by an overwhelming margin of 82 percent in favor, only 18-percent opposed.
Barbara Bowman and Tanni Bromley were elected to the Board of Education.

In LeRoy the budget passed by a 4 to 1 margin, incumbents Jacalyn Whitting and Richard Lawrence were re-elected to the board.
They defeated Robert Dawley and five write in candidates including beleaguered basketball coach Rick Rapone.

In Oakfield-Alabama, the budget was approved by a wide margin along with all propositions on the ballot.
Six candidates were running for three seats on the O-A Board of Ed. The winners were: Chris Haacke, Bonnie Woodward and Jennifer Kirkum.

Budgets were also approved by wide margins in Elba, Alexander, Pavilion and Byron-Bergen and Pembroke.
Attica Central
approved its budget.

Over 400 volunteers will participate in their year’s United Way Day of Caring.
That’s a record number.
38 local businesses and organizations will provide labor at 35 different worksites for non-profit agencies..
The United Way estimates all of that labor equals about 48-thosuand dollars.

18 year old Leonard Hahn the 4th was sentenced in Wyoming County Court to 10 years in state prison for rape.
The sentence will run concurrently with an identical sentence he was given in Genesee County Court last week..
Hahn admitted to raping children in both Attica and Alabama and plead guilty in both counties to charges of first degree rape.

Congressman Chris Collins is defending himself against alleged ethics violations.
The Office of Congressional Ethics is investigating the Clarence Republican's purchase of stock in an Australian biotech company. 
Collins' spokesman issued a statement yesterday calling the investigation a partisan attack and denied any wrongdoing.
Collins represents Genesee County in the House of Representatives
