All public school systems in Genesee County have announced that they will close on Wednesday. The list is shown below.
The National Weather Service has cancelled the Winter Storm Warning and replaced it with a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and sleet.
An estimated 3 to 5 inches of snow has come down on Genesee County overnight. Main highways have been plowed, but gusty winds are causing areas of poor visibility and some drifting along open roads.
A check with Buffalo-Niagara and Rochester International Airports this morning shows numerous flight cancellations – especially flights to the West and Midwest, including Chicago and Detroit.
All Southwest Airlines flights out of Buffalo have been cancelled for this morning.
As always, it’s best to check with your airline for the status of your flight.
Genesee Community College announced Tuesday afternoon that all campus locations would close from 10 p.m. Tuesday (Feb 1) until 10 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 2) due to the impending snow storm. This includescampuses at Batavia, Arcade, Dansville, Lima, Albion, Warsaw and Medina. All classes and events cancelled during that time period.
