A Flash Flood Watch has been cancelled early for all of Western New York.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a 30 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms today.
The level of Tonawanda Creek at Batavia was measured at 6-feet this morning that’s below flood stage but it is expected to rise throughout the day.
The Tonawanda is forecast to crest at 9-feet by this evening which is considered minor flood stage and could cause some flooding in Kibbe Park, Walnut Street and Law Street.

County Planners OK a 55 unit apartment complex for East Main Street in Batavia.
The $13-million project has been proposed by Home Leasing LLC in conjunction with Eagle Star Housing.
17 of the apartments will be reserved for homeless veterans.
More approvals are needed.
Construction is projected to begin in November of next year.
The location is along the south side of East Main where Mosman’s is now located.

A Mount Morris man receives a lengthy prison sentence for child porn.
35 year old Calvin Patrick was sentenced to 24 and a half years in state prison.
Patrick is accused of enticing two underage girls to send him sexually explicit pictures of themselves.
Patrick used an app known as “Kik” to communicate with a 14 year old in Florida and an 11 year old in Pennsylvania.

Prosecutors say they're planning to retry former New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver after his corruption conviction was overturned.  Yesterday, an appeals court vacated Silver's high-profile conviction.  The federal appeals court cited a case last year that changed the definition of official misconduct.  Silver had been sentenced to twelve years in prison for accepting about four-million-dollars in bribes but has remained free pending this appeal.
